The Art of being Persistent in your Passion

You have Goals. Work goals, money Goals, write that novel Goals, build physical strength or just get fit and stay fit Goals?  – passion goals.

Do you focus on your goal?

Well, think of this;

Success is almost totally dependent upon drive and persistence.

The extra energy required to make another effort or try another approach is the secret of winning.

Dennis Waitley

When we look at the quote above, we see that the main words of expression are “Drive” and “Persistence”

The words winning and success are just words that we use to describe that certain something that makes us feel the passion for our goals. And quite often those feelings tend to last a few hours, if we’re lucky, and then dwindle away.

How can you keep the feeling of Drive locked-in to your brain so that the reality of persistence becomes a part of your daily life?

Success means many things to different people; for some it means money – that’s the Hollywood version of success, but if you want permanence in the state of success that you reach, then success should mean something deeper and more profound to you.

Feel it and Enjoy

It should be something you feel – before you can even say you have achieved it. It should be a persistent feeling that rises up to greet you every morning when you wake. With that type of feeling, a permanent emotion, that drives you on you can only win and be successful at what you do.

Success, the Carrot and Stick

A big problem with the world of success and achievement is that everybody’s talking about the goal. You set your goal and you drive forwards to the end result. The drive, the journey towards the goal is the success factor, really.

Wrong and Right Thinking

It’s wrong thinking when we constantly think of the state of success as a pile of cash, or a finished novel. We need to focus on the journey because when you become successful at achieving the goal you won’t want to stop and stare. You will know that it’s just a stepping stone in being persistent in the action of success. Success is a journey of actions, not a static goal. There is no finish line that says stop and put your feet up , it’s done!

The Path of Energy and Drive

Building a path to your goal is a daily adventure that requires energy and drive; you prove to yourself everyday that you have both of these when you accomplish all those little tasks that keep you alive and bubbling through the day – sure some days are not so bubbly. But, you have persistence and Drive.

Focus and Your Journey

When we focus on the journey and forget the end of the journey we immediately discover that we have released pent up energy that was being used to think about the end result. The end result is always here and now, with us, it exists in our actions and thoughts as an expression of labour and passionate application to an activity that inspires us.

Fear and Faith

If you focus on the end goal you will always have an element of fear in your heart; the mind is your tool – for good or bad. It will always have the ability to express fear and that’s okay.

Don’t allow Fear to Block You

Fear blocks us; the faith needed to push forwards when more drive is needed comes from belief in self, not belief in some vague idea of success in the future. Drive comes from already having set the goal and knowing that the actions required to achieve the tasks involved will be worth it. Drive is the result of clear focus releasing energy to realise a result that will improve life; a novel, a business venture or just getting into shape again at the gym. This leads to the faith in oneself that is needed to keep going.

Be in the Now and Enjoy Life

Forget the past, forget the future, focus on the now, the present goal of being in action and applying yourself to your passion and you will end the day with an enormous sense of achievement and success.
